Early Symptoms Of Heart Artery Blockage: Heart blockage i.e. coronary artery disease is a condition in which the arteries that supply blood to the heart become narrow or blocked. This usually happens due to accumulation of plaque in the arteries, which reduces the oxygenated blood flow to the heart. This condition can also increase the risk of heart attack in future. Often people associate heart disease with sudden severe chest pain, but according to experts, many of its initial signs are very mild and people ignore them.

What do experts say?

Cardiac sciences expert Dr Praveen Raman Mishra told TOI that the most common symptom of blockage in the heart arteries can be chest pain or pressure. Many people feel it like heaviness, stiffness or burning sensation in the chest. However, this pain is not always severe, but often comes and goes, especially when the person does physical activity or is under stress. Apart from this, shortness of breath can also be an important sign. Some people start feeling difficulty in breathing while climbing stairs, walking a short distance or even while doing normal work.

What are the symptoms?

Doctors say that due to heart blockage, abnormal fatigue can also be felt. When blood with sufficient oxygen does not reach the heart, the body experiences constant weakness and fatigue. In many cases, the pain is not limited to the chest only but can spread to the hands, neck, jaw or back. People often mistake it for muscle pain or gas-acidity. Apart from this, dizziness, feeling nauseated or excessive sweating without any specific reason can also be warning signs, especially when these symptoms appear during physical activity.

How can we control?

According to experts, high blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, high cholesterol and lack of any kind of physical activity can increase the risk of blockage in the arteries of the heart. Therefore, to maintain heart health, it is very important to do regular exercise, balanced diet and periodic health checkups. If its symptoms appear repeatedly or start increasing, then it is better to immediately consult a cardiologist, so that serious problems can be avoided in time. If you ignore these symptoms, it is possible that you may have to face problems in the future.
