India-UAE Trade Relation: India and United Arab Emirates are coming closer to each other. On January 19, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan came to India on a visit of about two hours. His journey was short, but very important. During this, a target was set to double the trade between the two countries to 200 billion dollars by 2032.
Under this, it was agreed to increase mutual cooperation in technology, infrastructure, space, energy as well as defense sector. Let us tell you that after becoming the President in the year 2022, this is the third visit of Sheikh Zayed to India and the fifth in the last ten years.
Why India-UAE defense ties matter now?
In the meeting of President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan with PM Modi, both of them also talked about terrorism and also discussed measures to deal with it, which will help in curbing terrorism on the border. The heads of both the countries said during this time that criminals, financiers and supporters should be brought to justice.
In this sequence, India and UAE also agreed to work together under the Financial Action Task Force framework to curb terrorism financing and money laundering. This may irritate Pakistan, which has been repeatedly accused of financing terrorism.
The FATF report has held Pakistan responsible for terrorism financing and state-sponsored terrorism. It has also been claimed in many reports that undoubtedly Pakistan is in debt, for which it gets financial help through bailouts package from IMF. But this money is not used for the welfare of the people of the country, rather it is used to support terrorism. In such a situation, the deal signed between India and UAE on defense sector, which mentions regular military exercises, defense dialogue and regular visits of military chiefs, can provide relief to Pakistan.
