After stone pelting and violence at Turkman Gate, Friday prayers will be offered at Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque in Delhi today. During this period, paramilitary force will be deployed along with Delhi Police. The mosque administration and police have made additional security arrangements to maintain peace in the area.
According to Delhi Police, security arrangements have been tightened in Turkman Gate area. Police and paramilitary forces have been deployed in and around Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque to deal with any untoward situation. Chief custodian of the mosque, Najmuddin Chaudhary has appealed to the people to exercise restraint. He has said that considering the situation, people should offer namaz at their home or in the nearby mosque and avoid any kind of crowd. The administration says that the security forces are constantly keeping an eye on the area.

Background of violence and administrative action
It is noteworthy that the situation had worsened during the removal of illegal encroachment near Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque in Turkman Gate area at midnight on 6th November. When the demolition team of Delhi Municipal Corporation arrived to remove the encroachment, a crowd of local people started protesting. Within no time the protest turned into violence and stones were pelted at the police and MCD team. Many policemen were injured in this incident.
When the situation went out of control, the police had to use mild force. After this, heavy police force was deployed in the area and Section 163 of BNS was imposed, under which the gathering of more than four people was banned.
Investigation, FIR and appeal for peace
Considering the seriousness of the violence, Delhi Police has registered an FIR in the matter. Police are trying to find out through forensic investigation whether there was any organized conspiracy behind the violence. The administration says that strict action will be taken against those who play with law and order. At present, security has been increased in the area and efforts are on to maintain the situation normal. The administration and police have appealed to the people to ignore the rumours, maintain peace and cooperate with the administration.
