Importance of Govindarajaswamy Temple
The ancient Govindarajaswamy Temple is located in the center of Tirupati city of Andhra Pradesh, which was established by Saint Ramanujacharya in the 12th century. This temple is dedicated to Shri Govindraj, brother of Lord Vishnu. In the temple, the statue of Govindarajaswami is seated in a sleeping posture, under whose head a counting device is placed.
This statue of Sri Govindarajaswamy present in the temple shows that Lord Govindarajaswamy got tired while counting the wealth of Lord Venkateswara and fell asleep.
