There are elections in Assam on April 9, for which Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who was campaigning, was kissed on the cheek by a woman. He was campaigning in Dhemaji, where many women had come in his support. Someone was showering flowers on him, while someone was taking his photo on mobile. There were tears of emotion in someone’s eyes. The Chief Minister was leaving, shaking hands with everyone, when suddenly a woman held his hand and kissed him on the cheek. This went viral on social media.
With the help of this video, the opposition tried to corner him and criticized him, but Himanta Biswa Sarma said on the basis of this video that this is the love of the people towards him, which he has received after 25 years of penance. He said, “From children to mothers to elders, everyone showers me with affection and love which is visible even in the kiss given to me. There is love, unity and purity in this kiss, which was not achieved overnight. This has been achieved through 25 years of penance.”
The Chief Minister further said, “Be it floods or Corona period, or campaigns related to children, I have always been at the forefront to help. If you speak the truth in politics, people also show immense love towards you.” Taking a dig at the opposition, he said, “If Congress asks why people don’t kiss them, it is not my fault.”
Even after 25 years in politics, the love and affection shown by my people makes me feel truly humbled 🙏🏼
I treasure their love and will always work keeping their interests in mind. pic.twitter.com/W4sX5GNUEQ
