Holi 2026: Holi celebrated in Mathura, more than 44 lakh devotees reached Braj Mandal, keeping a close eye on hoodlums

So far, more than 44 lakh devotees have come here in Braj Mandal (Mathura, Vrindavan and all the pilgrimage places of the district), famous for the unique Holi and supernatural love of Radha and Shri Krishna in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh.

In this regard, Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural Area) Suresh Chandra Rawat said that so far, information has been received about a total of 44 lakh devotees participating in various festivals of Holi in Braj. He told that devotees from India and abroad are still coming to Braj.

Devotees come in large numbers from far and wide

He told that giving darshan of Ladli Ji of Barsana sitting on the white umbrella, Baldev on Chaitra Krishna Paksha Dwitiya and Huranga of Jab village and Charkula dance in Radharani’s grandmother’s village Mukhrai etc. are many such occasions where devotees come in large numbers. Rawat said that it is estimated that in such a situation five-six lakh more devotees may arrive. He said that strict security arrangements have been made for the safety of the devotees and to celebrate Holi festival peacefully.

Police keeping a close eye on the hoodlums, more than 24 sent to jail

Meanwhile, the police has geared up to ensure that the festival of colors is not disrupted in any way. The police is keeping a close watch on those who create ruckus under the guise of Holi. In Govardhan and Magorra police station areas, police have sent more than 24 miscreants to jail for forcibly throwing gulal on women in the crowd and creating ruckus. He said that in Govardhan and Magorra police station areas, 17 and nine hoodlums respectively have been sent to jail after taking action on charges of disturbing peace.
