Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has issued an advisory on the festival of Holi. It has been told by the metro that at what time the first metro will be available on Wednesday (4th March). DMRC has issued its guidelines to ensure that passengers do not face any inconvenience.
This year Holi will be celebrated on Wednesday (4 March 2026). On this special day, there will be no metro service available on all lines of Delhi Metro, including the Airport Express Line, from morning to 2:30 pm. For this, the first metro will reach the passengers at 2:30.
Delhi Metro took this decision for this reason
Delhi Metro has taken this decision keeping in mind the security, crowd management and cleanliness during the festival. In the colorful celebration of Holi, people play with colors in homes, parks and roads, due to which there is a possibility of unusual crowd or disturbance in metro stations and trains in the morning.
For this reason they have postponed the morning services, so that the festival can be celebrated in a peaceful and safe manner. On March 4, 2026, metro trains on all lines will start running from terminal stations at 2:30 pm.
Metro will run normally after 2:30 pm
On the festival of Holi, services will continue as normal after 2:30 pm, that is, they will run as per their scheduled schedule till the last hour of the night. Commuters are advised not to depend on the metro in the morning or early afternoon on this day and use alternative arrangements such as buses, autos or private vehicles.
What did the Principal Executive Director of DMRC say?
DMRC Principal Executive Director (Corporate Communications) Anuj Dayal has issued an official statement in this regard. He said that this arrangement is only for the day of Holi and the metro will return to its normal timetable from the next day, March 5.
This appeal was made to the passengers
Passengers have been appealed to plan their journey ahead of time and exercise caution in crowded places. This tradition has been going on for the last many years, in which metro services are started in the afternoon on Holi.
