There is no direct application or open interview for the Prime Minister to choose a cook. Most of the cooks are already posted in the Presidency Staff, Rashtrapati Bhavan or VIP catering department of the Government of India. These people have cooked food in VVIP dinner, international summit and state events for years. Along with their experience, their loyalty and behavior are also tested deeply. Many times the Prime Minister can ask for permission to bring his trusted old cook himself, but still it is mandatory to conduct police verification, Intelligence Bureau (IB) clearance and full background check.

Talking about cooking skills, PM’s cook is not just expecting delicious food, but they have to fulfill the Five Star Hotel Standard cleaning, hygiene and health safety norms. Most Cooks have taken training in professional hotel management or kulinary arts. They have to specialize in Indian cuisine to international dishes, so that the food level remains intact for any foreign guest.

These degrees may be demanded!
To become an official cook officially, no fixed degree is required, but usually all this is expected from such a cook. Such as Professional Hotel Management or Culinary Arts course (eg IHM – Diploma or Degree from Institute of Hotel Management). Experiences in 5 Star Hotels or large restaurant, besides having experts in many regional, national and international food. It is also necessary to understand high class cleaning, presentation and health safety standard. Many times old experienced cooks who have a strong experience of cooking for big VIP dinners, events, or international guests are chosen.
