From Sonprayag, local vehicles drop you to Gaurikund. After this the real journey begins. From where one has to climb about 16 to 18 kilometers to reach the temple. If you are not able to travel on foot, then the facilities of horse, mule, palanquin and stooge are available. Apart from this, helicopter facility is also available. Which operates from Fata, Guptkashi and Sirsi helipads. Kedarnath can be reached within a few minutes by helicopter, but prior booking is necessary. Keep checking weather updates continuously. Registration is necessary for Kedarnath Yatra. There is no entry into the temple premises without registration. Its purpose is to control the number of passengers, keep the security system strong and make tracking easy in emergency. For online registration, one has to visit the official website of Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board. Create a new account there and log in and fill in information like name, address, mobile number, Aadhaar number and date of travel.
Select Kedarnath in destination and complete Aadhaar verification. After submitting the form, the registration number and travel pass is received on email or WhatsApp. It is important to carry valid identity proof like Aadhar Card, Voter ID or Passport during the journey.
