Al-Falah University of Faridabad has become a topic of discussion across the country today. The reason is that the name of this university came up in the investigation related to the recent blast in Delhi. But at the center of this discussion is Javed Ahmed Siddiqui, Chancellor and Founder of Al-Falah University, whose life seems no less than a film story. Once a Jamia lecturer, then a businessman, and now once again in the headlines, but for the wrong reasons.
According to media reports, 61 year old Javed Ahmed Siddiqui was born on 15 November 1964 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. He did B.Tech in Industrial and Product Design from Devi Ahilya University, Indore. After completing his studies, his family moved to Delhi, where he started working as a mechanical engineering lecturer at Jamia Millia Islamia in 1993. But Javed’s dreams were bigger than a college job. He started some businesses along with his brother Saud, one of which was Al-Falah Investments Limited. This company later became a dark shadow on his career.
Jamia to jail journey
While teaching at Jamia, Javed convinced many colleagues to invest in his business. He promised them huge profits, but things soon got complicated. In the year 2000, investors made allegations of fraud and embezzlement. Police investigation revealed that the signatures of the investors were fake and many companies turned out to be fictitious. The allegation was that Javed and his brother transferred investors’ money to their accounts and then misappropriated it. Both the brothers were arrested and had to stay in Tihar jail for three years. Then in 2005, he was acquitted by the Patiala Court, but on the condition that he would return the money to all the investors.
Foundation of Al-Falah University
After coming out of jail, Javed chose a new path. He founded Al-Falah University which means “Success and Prosperity”. When Al-Falah School of Medical Sciences started in 2019, it became an emerging medical institute of Haryana. The crowd of students on the campus, the team of doctors and modern facilities soon gained it recognition.
