The full name of the current director of NCERT is DP Saklani. He was born on 1 January 1963 in Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. DP Saklani received higher education in History. He obtained PhD degree in the year 1996. His studies were completed from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. His research work was related to special areas of history. He studied in depth the subjects of social history of Central Himalayas, ancient India and medieval period. Apart from this, he also worked on the development of cities and cultural traditions in India.
From teacher to administrative responsibility
Before joining NCERT, he was working as a history professor in the university. He taught students for many years and took part in research work. In the year 2022, he was appointed Director of NCERT. While holding this post, he is monitoring the work related to changes in school curriculum, revision of books and new education policy.
