The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a big and historic decision for the former firefighters. Now the youth who have completed four years of service under the ‘Agneepath Yojana’ in the army will get 20 percent reservation in the recruitment of UP Police and PAC. This decision will not only give a new direction to the former firefighters, but will also give a disciplined and trend force to the UP police.
The state government has made it clear that the firemen will get a chance in the UP Police in direct recruitment to posts like Constable (Reserve), PAC, Horseman Police and Fireman. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna informed that 20% posts on all these posts will be reserved for the former fire. This reservation will be horizontal, that is, those who come from the category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), will get the benefit of the same category.
Relief in age limit too
Fireworks will be given a discount of three years in the maximum age limit. That is, if the maximum age limit for the general candidate is 23 years, then this limit can be 26 years for former firemen.

Importance of decisions
If we also believe in 20 percent of the posts for the former fire, then according to estimates, there will be more than 5,000 posts that they can get. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced this on Kargil Victory Day last year and now the government has cleared the way to implement it. This decision will not only give employment to the former firefighters, but the state will also get the benefit of their military discipline and skills.
What is the situation of firemen?
The Central Government launched the Agneepath scheme in 2022. Under this, the youth get a chance to serve in the Army, Air Force and Navy for four years. In 2026, the first batch will complete four years of service. Of these, 25% can get permanent appointment, while 75% will need jobs in civil sector.
