This figure is less than the number of Buddhist majority countries. Now, talking about Muslim countries, there are 48 countries of the whole world, where the people who believe in Islam are in the majority.
According to the 2011 census, India’s total population was 121 crore, out of which 97 crore people are Hindus, which is 79.8 percent of the total population. After Hindus, Muslims have the largest population, which is 14.2 percent. 17.22 crore people believe in Islam. India’s Hindu population saw a significant decline in 2011 as compared to 2001.
Hindu population declined in two decades and Muslims increased
According to the 2001 census, the Hindu population of India at that time was 80.5 percent and before that there were 82.4 percent Hindus in 1991. In these two decades, there was a decline in the Hindu population. Talking about Muslims, their population in 2001 was 13.4 percent of the total population and 11.7 percent in 1991.

Apart from India, Nepal is the country where Hindu is in mazority. According to the 2021 census, 81.19 percent of the people here are from Hinduism. Buddhists, Islam and Christianity also live in Nepal, but the census saw that the number of people of Hindu and Buddhism declined, while Muslims and Christians increased. There are 14 lakh 83 thousand 60 Muslim people living here, who are 5.09 percent of the total population.
What is the situation of Hindus in other countries?

Similarly, there are 23 percent Hindus in Bhutan, people of Buddhism are majority here. Malaysia has 5.8 percent, 13.7 percent in Sri Lanka and 8.2 percent in Bangladesh. Out of the total population of countries like Pakistan, America, Indonesia and Britain, only 1 to 1.6 percent are Hindus.

Now talking about Muslim countries, according to the World Population Review, more than 50 percent population of 48 countries around the world is going to believe in Islam. Of these, 32 are countries, out of the total population of 90 percent Muslims, while more than 99 percent of the population of 9 countries considers Islam. There are 95 to 98 percent population of 16 countries and 7 countries where 94 to 90 percent of the population is Muslim. There are only two countries with 50 to 55 percent Muslim population. Out of the total population of the remaining ten countries, 60 to 80 percent people are Muslims.
