1. Stomach related problems – Serious diseases like vomiting, diarrhea, stomach ache, cholera, typhoid.

How many people in the country fall ill every year due to drinking dirty water?

The problem of dirty water is very big in India. According to a study of July 2022, people in about 1.95 lakh settlements in India are drinking contaminated water. This not only spreads common diseases, but in 2019, about 23 lakh people also died due to this reason. The report of Composite Water Management Index (CWMI) shows that every year about 2 lakh people die due to drinking contaminated water in India. If this problem is not solved on time, then by 2030 about 60 crore people may face the problem of water shortage and contaminated water.

Where is there more dirty water?

According to experts, slums and congested areas of cities are most affected by dirty water. Due to poor water supply in NCR region and Delhi-NCR, people fall ill again and again. Due to dirty water supply in small sectors, colonies and apartments, several hundred people go to hospital every month.

Doctors say that drinking contaminated water also affects the physical and mental development of children. If timely treatment is not received, serious infection can spread to the kidneys and liver. Precautions and treatment at home

1. Drinking water – Always drink boiled or filtered water.

2. Electrolytes – To avoid dehydration, use lemon water, coconut water and ORS.

3. Light food – In case of vomiting or diarrhea, take light food like khichdi, curd-rice, banana.

4. Stay alert – If persistent diarrhea, vomiting, high fever, decreased urination or yellowness in the body/eyes is seen, contact the doctor immediately.

5.Hygiene – Eat fresh and covered food, wash hands thoroughly and get vaccinated on time.
