How much education is required to become the Prime Minister of India? Is any special degree required for this? This question often comes in people’s mind. But you will be surprised to know the answer. It is not mandatory to have any major degree or special course to become Prime Minister. Some basic conditions have been set for this in the Indian Constitution, but education is not one of them.
India is a democratic country and here the Prime Minister is the leader of the majority party in the Parliament elected by the people. According to the Constitution, to become Prime Minister, a person must be an Indian citizen. If he is elected from Lok Sabha, his minimum age should be 25 years and if he is elected from Rajya Sabha, then his minimum age should be 30 years.
Apart from this, he should not be working on any government post of profit i.e. “Office of Profit”. The Prime Minister must be a member of the Lok Sabha or the Rajya Sabha. If a person is elected Prime Minister and is not a member of either of the two houses, then he is required to become a member of one of these houses within six months.
How much is the salary?
The salary of the Prime Minister of India is around Rs 1.66 lakh per month. That means his total income in a year reaches around Rs 19.20 lakh. Many allowances are included in this salary. Like daily allowance of Rs 62,000 and monthly constituency allowance of around Rs 45,000.
What facilities does the PM have?
The Prime Minister also gets the highest security and facilities of the country. They get the protection of Special Protection Group (SPG). His official residence is in New Delhi. He has a special plane, Air India One, for foreign trips. Bulletproof vehicles and other security vehicles are provided to them for traveling within the country. Apart from this, the Prime Minister is given facilities like medical facilities, pension and staff assistance throughout his life.
The Constitution of India gives equal opportunities to every citizen. To become the Prime Minister, it is not necessary to have a high degree, but honesty to work for the country, visionary thinking and public trust.
