Amidst the preparations for the Bihar assembly elections, information has been revealed about the change in the salary of the presiding officers posted on election duty. This time the Election Commission has announced an increase in the money received by the presiding officers.
Earlier the presiding officers used to get Rs 350 every day, but this time this amount has been increased. Now they will be paid 500 rupees per day or a lump sum of Rs 2,000 per day. This change will not only provide financial benefit to the officials doing duty, but will also increase their participation and enthusiasm in the election process.
Presiding officers are an important part of the election process. These officers are posted at the polling station and monitor the entire polling process during the election. In the purview of their responsibility, it is to ensure that the polling is fair, independent and smoothly.

Presiding officials also see that the facility of voters should be maintained at the polling station. They check the polling station operations, security of EVMs and updates of voter list. They immediately inform the higher authorities about any disturbance or irregularity.
Other benefits to the presiding officer during election duty include travel allowance, food and necessary facilities. This time, by receiving a lump sum payment of Rs 500 per day or a lump sum payment of Rs 2,000, they will get the right compensation for their hard work.
Dates declaration
The Election Commission has announced the dates of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. Polling in the state will be held on November 6 and 11, while the results will be declared on 14 November. With this announcement, the code of conduct has also come into force in Bihar. Earlier the opposition had raised many questions on the Commission regarding SIR (voter list). On 30 September 2025, the Commission released the final SIR list, in which a total of 7,41,92,357 voters are registered in Bihar.
