Indian cricket is in a period when it has different captains for all three formats. The ODI captaincy is currently with Rohit Sharma, last year Suryakumar Yadav was appointed as T20 captain and this year Shubman Gill has become the new Test captain. After landing on the field, the captain has to take more tension than other players, he has to decide how to use the bowlers and when to set up how many aggressive fielding to be used. Does the captain get more salary? The direct answer to this question is ‘no’. In fact, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has divided the salary system of cricketers into four grades. Grade A+, Grade A, Grade B and Grade C, the players under them get a tank in crores of rupees. Grade A+ with 7 crores annually, grade A players 5 crores a year, players under Grade B take 3 crores in a year, while players with grade C get 1 crore rupees a year.
Through the grade system, sometimes the captain may be getting more salary. Like ODI captain Rohit Sharma comes in Grade A+, so his annual salary is Rs 7 crore. As a captain, he will be getting more conflict than most of the players of the ODI team. Such Test captains come in grade A, so they must be earning more than players with B and C grade.
Players get match fees separately
Indian cricketers get different match fees in Test, ODI and T20 matches. All other players, including the captain, get a match fee of Rs 15 lakh to play a Test match, Rs 6 lakh to play ODI and a match fee of Rs 3 lakh to play a T20 match.
