The Panchayat Secretary is appointed under the Panchayati Raj Department of the state government. He is in charge of one or more gram panchayats and has a direct role in almost every administrative matter. He organizes meetings of Gram Sabha and Gram Panchayat, issues notices and keeps a complete record of decisions taken in the meetings.

How much salary is available?
As far as salary is concerned, this state government decides and there is little difference in different states. In general, according to the Seventh Pay Commission, the Panchayat Secretary is placed in Pay Level-3. Initial basic pays between 21,700 to 26,300 rupees. Along with this, the total salary, including dearness allowance, house rent allowance, travel allowance and other government allowances, increases from 28,000 to 35,000 rupees per month. This salary increases with experience and promotion.

How much will salary be after 8th pay commission?
According to many media reports, fitment factor in 8 pay commissions can reach 2.86. Now if the 8th Pay Commission is applicable, then the Pay Level-3 can increase from Rs 21,700 to Rs 62,062. That is, there will be an increase of about 40,362 rupees.
