Donald Trump New tariff: IPhone maker Apple has announced its result for the first quarter (April-June) of 2025-26. During this period, the company’s revenue was recorded at $ 94.04 billion (about 8.21 lakh crore rupees), which is 10 percent more than the same period last year. Whereas, Wall Street had estimated a revenue of about $ 89 billion (about 7.77 lakh crore rupees).
America’s trade policy pressure
For the first time after 2021, the growth of the company has risen such a boom, which points to its return to its return. However, in the meantime, Apple CEO Tim Cook mentioned the increasing pressure of US tariffs on electronics products being prepared worldwide including India.
Announcing the quarterly result of the company, he said that most of the iPhone sold in America are made in India. In such a situation, Apple is also not untouched by the financial pressure born from the new wave of America’s trade policy.
The company worries about the increasing burden of tariff
The CEO of the company said, “India is also included in its fastest emerging markets for iPhone. Most of the products of Apple also come under investigation under Section 232. Also, in the fourth quarter alone, one can face $ 1.1 billion tariffs. Even though Apple has shifted a large part of its iPhone production to India, but the burden of tariffs still remains, especially due to the IEEPA (International Emergency Economic Powers Act) tariffs targeted.
Let me tell you that IEEPA is a law made in 1977, which is usually used to restore or seize the property, but Trump used it to impose tariffs.
Trump threatened Cook
Cook said, “Most of the iPhones sold in the US are now made in India. Mac, iPads and Watch sold in America are mainly made in Vietnam. Also, products sent to other international markets still come from China on a large scale.” Here, Trump is strongly against the installation of Apple factories in India.
He had told the CEO of the company that India is one of the most tariffs imposing the most tariffs, so they do not want Apple products to be made in India. He had warned Cook through his social media platform Truth, saying that if the iPhone is built out of the US, the company would have to pay at least 25 percent tariffs.
Apple’s growing scope in India
Despite this, India is becoming a hub of iPhone production due to the country’s policy, cost and talent. The company is wooing the government like the government’s Make in India in India and is also less with the help of import tax and labor costs in India, so the company is developing the infrastructure necessary for electronics manufacturing with the help of the government.
Investment plan in America too
Despite these challenges, Cook also announced a big investment of $ 500 billion in the US in the next four years. He has also announced to set up a new AI server factory in Texas from doubling his advanced manufacturing funds.
