
It is common to feel nervous when the lift gets stuck or malfunctions. But this nervousness can become the biggest danger. Breathing heavily or rushing can worsen the condition. In such a situation, take deep and slow breaths, keep yourself calm and ask other people present in the lift to maintain composure.

After this immediately press the emergency alarm button present in the lift. This provides information about the condition to the building security, maintenance team or emergency services. Many lifts also have an intercom or call button, using which help can be sought.
