How does cancer grow?
Researchers found that certain proteins and chemical tags are present in cancer cells. These are called H2BNTac in scientific language. These tags are made with the help of proteins called p300 and CBP and activate the genes that cause rapid tumor growth. Their quantity is many times more in cancer tissue compared to normal cells.

New drug CBPD-409
To stop this process, scientists have prepared a medicine named CBPD-409. This medicine completely destroys both p300 and CBP proteins. After this the H2BNTac tags disappear and the cancer genes are no longer active. Earlier drugs partially blocked these proteins, whereas this new drug destroys them completely.

successful results in experiments
The cells in which more H2BNTac was found in lab tests turned out to be more sensitive to this drug. This medicine also proved effective in experiments conducted on rats. This not only slowed down the growth of the tumor but also reduced its size. The special thing was that the body tolerated the medicine well and no serious side effects were seen.
New hope for patients
Scientists believe that this discovery can be especially helpful for those patients on whom hormone therapy no longer works. The research team is now preparing to take this medicine to clinical trials. If the results are successful, it could become a new option in the treatment of prostate cancer.
