Chaitra Navratri 2026: Chaitra Navratri has started from today Thursday. Mother Shailputri is worshiped on the first day. On this occasion, special preparations have been made in all the goddess temples. During Navratri, special worship is also done in Ram and Hanuman temples for nine days.

Kalash installation and Ramcharitmanas recitation in Mahavir temple
Ramcharitmanas recitation will begin with the installation of the Kalash today at 8 am in Patna’s Mahavir Temple. According to the temple administration, like every year, this time too Ramcharitmanas will be recited continuously for nine days.
This Kalash is established not for the Goddess, but for Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman and Hanuman.
After the installation of the Kalash, about 14 to 15 saints will together recite Navah Ramcharitmanas, which will continue for nine days. Devotees have already arrived from many districts including Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Purnia, Muzaffarpur and Patna to participate in this lesson.
Special events and preparations on Ram Navami
Special puja will be held on Navami Tithi on 27th March, the last day of Navratri. On this day, the doors of the temple will be opened from 2 o’clock in the night. Ramlala’s birth anniversary will be celebrated at 11 am, in which flowers will be showered.
About 150 volunteers will be deployed for the arrangements of this event and the district administration will also be fully active. This time a target has been set to sell approximately 22,000 kg of Naivedyam Prasad.
Worship time changed in Badi Patan Devi Temple
Special preparations have also been made for Navratri in Badi Patan Devi Temple. According to temple priest Vijay Shankar Giri, this time the time of puja has been advanced. The bathing and worship of Mata will start from 4 am in the morning, which will continue till around 10 am. During this period, devotees will not get darshan and will worship from outside only.
After 10 o’clock, the formal puja will begin with the installation of the Kalash. There will be the first Aarti at 1:30 pm, second Aarti at 3:30 to 4 pm and third Aarti at 10 pm. There will be three Aartis on the first day, while thereafter there will be two Aartis every morning and evening. More than 25,000 devotees are expected to arrive on the first day, due to which the police administration has also been alerted.
Ram Katha and procession in Bhikhan Das Thakurbari
Special events are also being organized during Navratri in the about 1000 year old Bhikhan Das Thakurbari Ram-Hanuman temple located in Bakarganj, Patna. Ram Katha will be organized here for nine days, in which Anand Ji Maharaj, who came from Buxar, will narrate the story for four hours every day.
According to the Mahant of the temple, Jai Narayan Das, every wish made with a true heart is fulfilled in front of the ancient idol of Hanuman ji installed here. Hundreds of devotees come to this temple located near Gandhi Maidan every day, and a huge crowd is seen here from Navratri to Ram Navami. A grand procession will also be taken out on the occasion of Ram Navami on 27th March.
