A statement by former Australian batsman Mike (Michael) Hussey, popularly known as ‘Mr Cricket’, is going viral. Hussey has said that if he had got more opportunities in international cricket or his debut had happened at the right time, then he would have scored 5000 runs more than the great Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.
Mike Hussey said on The Grade Cricketer YouTube channel, “There was a lot of talent in Australian cricket at my time, due to which I got the opportunity late. If I had got the opportunity at the right time, I would definitely have scored more runs than Sachin Tendulkar.”
Hussey further said, “I have thought about it a lot. I will be 5000 runs behind Sachin, who is the highest run-scorer in this game. Most wins, most centuries, most Ashes and most World Cups, everything is in my name. Then unfortunately when I wake up in the morning, it all seems like a dream. Then I think it would have been better if I had got the chance earlier.”
Let us tell you that Sachin Tendulkar has the most runs in international cricket. Sachin scored 15921 runs in Test, 18426 runs in ODI and 10 runs in T20. In such a situation, Sachin has more than 34 thousand runs in his name in international cricket. Now Hussey’s statement that he would have scored 5000 runs with Sachin is going to surprise everyone.
Michael Hussey got a chance to debut in international cricket at the age of 31. He played 79 Tests, 185 ODIs and 38 T20 matches for Australia. Hussey has 6235 runs in Test, 5442 runs in ODI and 721 runs in T20. Hussey scored 19 centuries in Tests and 3 centuries in ODIs. He was 78 centuries behind Sachin in international cricket. While Sachin Tendulkar scored 100 centuries, Hussey scored only 22 centuries.
