‘I have cried almost every day…’ You will get emotional after hearing what Jemimah Rodrigues told

India’s star batsman Jemimah Rodrigues performed a feat against Australia in the semi-finals of the Women’s World Cup 2025, which cricket history will always remember. In the match played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Jemima played her most memorable innings till date and took India to the final. After the match, Jemima became so emotional that she started crying bitterly on the field.

“I have cried almost every day…”

After the match, Jemima said emotionally, “I have cried almost every day during this entire tour. Mentally, I was not feeling well, I was going through a lot of nervousness and anxiety.”

She said, “I want to thank God, because all this was possible because of him. I want to thank my mother, father, coach and all the people who believed in me. The last one month was very difficult for me. It feels like a dream has come true.”

Jemima said, “I knew I just had to play on the field, God would take care of everything else. In the beginning I was just playing and talking to myself. As the match progressed, I was reading a line from the Bible, ‘Be calm, God will fight for you.’ I just stood… and truly, God fought for me,”

Gave credit to the team and audience

Jemima also gave credit to her colleagues and fans for this victory. She said, “There was a lot going on inside me, but I was trying to remain calm. When we won, I couldn’t control myself. When Harry Di came, I just had to make a good partnership. In the end, I was trying to push myself further, but my body was not supporting me. At that time, Deepti was talking to me on every ball, encouraging me. The rest of the team mates were motivating me. Every scream of the audience, every applause gave me energy. Yes, this victory is not just mine, it is for the whole of India.”

‘Played to win, not to get a century’

Jemima told that she came to know about batting at number 3 at the last moment. She said, “I was taking a shower when I was told that I will be at number 3. For me, this match was more about India’s victory than my innings. Today was not about a century or a half-century, but about helping the country win.”

Jemima’s unbeaten century innings

India had a huge target of 339 runs, but Jemimah completely turned the match around by making a partnership of 167 runs with captain Harmanpreet Kaur (89). Jemima scored unbeaten 127 runs in 134 balls, which included 14 fours. This inning of hers became India’s biggest run chase innings so far in the Women’s World Cup knockout.
