No official decision has been taken yet regarding whether Bangladesh team will come to India for the 2026 T20 World Cup or not. Today the Bangladesh Cricket Board was to give its final decision for the 2026 T20 World Cup. The deadline was today, but ICC has given BCB one more day’s time with a warning.
ICC has told BCB that if Bangladesh team does not come to India for the 2026 T20 World Cup, then some other team will be included in the World Cup in its place. ICC voted to send another team in place of Bangladesh after refusing to tour India.
The ICC has asked the BCB to inform the Bangladesh government that if Bangladesh continues to refuse to come to India to play its matches in the 2026 T20 World Cup, then another team will be sent to the tournament in its place. After this decision, voting took place, in which most of the ICC Board members were in favor of sending some other team.
ICC has given BCB one more day to take a decision. However, tomorrow i.e. Thursday, January 22, the picture will become clear. If Bangladesh team does not come to India for the T20 World Cup, then Scotland is likely to get a place in Group C in its place. Scotland failed to qualify for the 2026 T20 World Cup after finishing behind the Netherlands, Italy and Jersey in the European Qualifiers.
For your information, let us tell you that the 2026 T20 World Cup is to start from 7th February. This global tournament is being hosted by India and Sri Lanka. All matches will be played at five venues in India and three in Sri Lanka. This time a total of 20 teams will participate in this tournament, which have been divided into four groups.
