ICC ready for 4 day test: The International Cricket Council is set to approve the four -day Test in the World Test Championship. Its purpose is to make sports accessible and more practical for small countries. ICC chairman Jai Shah himself has supported this, although 3 countries including India will get discounts.
A total of 27 series will be played between 9 countries in the World Test Championship from 2025 to 2027, out of which only 2 such series will be played while only 2 Tests will be played while 3-3 Tests will be played in 6 series. England, Australia and Indian cricket team will play a 5-5-match Test series against each other.
Jai Shah’s support for 4 -day test
According to The Guardian report, during the WTC final discussion, ICC President Jai Shah has given his support for the four-day Test with the aim of approved time for the 2027-29 World Test Championship cycle. India, England and Australia will be allowed to schedule a 5-match Test series of 5-match Test for Ashes, Border Gavaskar Trophy and Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

What will be different in the four -day Test?
Many small countries do not want to host the test due to time cost and time, but if the Test is reduced to 4 days, then a series of 3 Test matches can be finished within 3 weeks. 5-day Test format will continue in WTC 2025-27
The World Test Championship with Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Test has started the 2025-27 cycle. 2 matches will be played in this series.
