Indian women players have made huge gains in the latest ICC rankings. However, Jemimah Rodrigues has suffered a loss in ranking. Smriti Mandhana currently remains India’s number-1 batsman in T20 format.
Shefali Verma’s advantage, Rodrigues’ loss
India’s opening batsman Shafali Verma has been in tremendous form since the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. Shafali Verma has jumped four places and achieved sixth position in T20 batting rankings. He played a match-winning inning of 87 runs in the World Cup final. She is the highest run scorer in the current T20 series against Sri Lanka. So far, he has scored 236 runs in 4 matches of the series at an excellent average of 118.
Jemimah Rodrigues has slipped to tenth position with a loss of one place. Smriti Mandhana is India’s top T20 batsman, who is currently ranked third in the rankings and has 767 rating points. Wicketkeeper batsman Richa Ghosh has established her identity as a stormy batsman. She has moved up to joint 20th position with a gain of 7 places.
Renuka’s long jump among bowlers
In the T20 bowling rankings, Renuka Thakur has taken a jump of 8 places and entered the top-10. Renuka Thakur has now come joint sixth in the rankings with South Africa’s Malaba. Renuka is the only Indian in the top-10 ranking of bowlers. Radha Yadav and Shreyanka Patil have also suffered losses. The Indian team would like to do better in bowling, because the Women’s T20 World Cup is to be played in June next year.
