ICC Women’s World Cup 2025: India has performed brilliantly in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 and secured its place in the semi-finals. Harmanpreet Kaur-led Team India entered the last four by defeating New Zealand by 53 runs via Duckworth-Lewis method (DLS). With this victory, India has become the fourth team to reach the semi-finals.
Now four teams for the semi-finals have been decided – Australia, England, South Africa and India. The first semi-final of the World Cup will be held on October 29 in Guwahati, while the second semi-final and final will be held at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The trophy match will be played on 2 November.
India’s comeback with the century pair of Mandhana-Pratika
After facing defeat in the last three matches, the match against New Zealand was like ‘do or die’ for India. The team made a tremendous comeback and achieved a spectacular victory. Indian openers Smriti Mandhana (109 runs) and Pratika Rawal (122 runs) gave a strong start to India by making a record partnership of 212 runs for the first wicket. After this, Jemimah Rodrigues played an unbeaten inning of 76 runs, taking the score to 340/3 in 49 overs.
Due to rain, the match was reduced to 49-49 overs, but as soon as New Zealand’s innings started, it rained again and the overs were reduced to 44.
Rain became a reason for excitement
In this rain-affected match, New Zealand got the target of 325 runs in 44 overs. However, despite the innings of Brooke Halliday (81) and Isabelle Gage (65 not out), the entire team stopped at 271 runs. From India’s side, Renuka Singh and Kranti Gaur took two wickets each due to their excellent bowling, while Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, Pratika Rawal and Shri Charani took one wicket each.

With this victory, India has become the last team to make it to the semi-finals. Now Team India is just two wins away from creating history, if the Indian team wins the final, it will be its first Women’s World Cup title.
India will play its last league match against Bangladesh on October 26, which will be an opportunity to further boost the team’s confidence before the semi-finals.
