The final match of the Women’s World Cup 2025 will be played between the Indian women’s cricket team and the South Africa women’s cricket team on Sunday. India had reached the finals twice before but could never win the title, whereas the South African team has reached the finals for the first time. Before this great match, a big statement has come from BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia. He credited the success of Team India to ICC President Jay Shah, who was earlier the Secretary of BCCI.
Speaking to PTI, the BCCI Secretary said, “Under Jay Shah’s leadership, the BCCI laid out a strong roadmap to promote women’s cricket, from starting the Women’s Premier League (WPL) to ensuring pay parity between male and female players for international matches. Our aim has always been to encourage and empower women cricketers.”
The victory celebration will be great
The Indian women’s cricket team reached the World Cup final for the first time in 2005, when Australia became the champion by defeating India in the title match. For the second time the Indian team reached the final in 2017, here England won the title. Now India is in the final for the third time. BCCI Secretary promised that if Team India wins, the celebration will be grand.
Speaking to PTI, he said, “If the Indian team becomes world champion, we will definitely celebrate their victory in the best way.”
