These days, another controversy is in discussion regarding Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025-26. Social media and some reports claimed that Indian cricket presenter Riddhima Pathak has been dropped from the presentation panel of BPL. In BPL, he was given the responsibility of covering the Dhaka League, but he was removed before reaching Bangladesh. Now Riddhima Pathak herself has come forward and told the truth on this entire matter.
Riddhima Pathak issued a statement
India’s well-known sports presenter Riddhima Pathak issued a statement on social media and clarified that she has not been removed from BPL. She herself decided that she would not be a part of this league.
Riddhima said, “In the last few hours, a story is being spread that I have been “dropped” from the BPL. However, this is not true. I have taken the decision on my own to step down from the BPL. For me, my country always comes first and I value cricket more than any single assignment. I have been privileged to serve the game with honesty, respect and passion for years and that will not change. I look forward to serving the game with integrity, clarity and the spirit of the game.” I will stand by all those who supported me, cricket deserves more than that and I will always stand by it.
BPL and IPL issue amid controversies
This entire matter has come to light at a time when there are tensions in the cricket relations between India and Bangladesh. Recently, on the instructions of BCCI, Kolkata Knight Riders removed Bangladeshi bowler Mustafizur Rahman from the team for IPL 2026. After this, the telecast of IPL was banned in Bangladesh and coming to India for T20 World Cup 2026 was also refused. In such a situation, it is clear that many issues related to cricket are also seen to be related to politics and diplomacy at this time.
