Politics has once again become heated in West Bengal. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Humayun Kabir gave a controversial statement saying that when many Ram temples can be built in the country, then why is there objection to building more than one mosque? After his statement, political turmoil has intensified in the state and different statements are coming out on this issue from BJP to Trinamool Congress.
Will lay the foundation of Babri Masjid on 6th December
Humayun Kabir had recently claimed that he is preparing to build a new Babri Masjid in Murshidabad, West Bengal and its foundation will be laid on 6 December. He said- Babri Masjid was demolished on 6 December 1992. This date is important. On the same day, 1450 years of Quran are also being completed, so it is necessary to lay the foundation of the mosque. He said sarcastically – ‘Everything will be done by one o’clock, half past one… What difference does it make who is saying what… I will not say anything.’
TMC kept distance, said- this is his personal statement
After the MLA’s statement, the party immediately distanced itself from the issue. TMC state vice president Jai Prakash Majumdar said, this is completely his personal statement. It has nothing to do with the party or the politics of Bengal. He is the only MLA who won the election on the name and symbol of TMC. TMC made it clear that the party does not support this statement.
BJP’s counterattack: ‘An attempt to scare Hindus’
BJP also expressed strong opposition to his statement. Union Minister of State Sukant Majumdar alleged that people like Humayun Kabir are trying to intimidate and put pressure on Hindus. He has the support of Mamata Banerjee. Majumdar said that this statement is going to harm the social environment of Bengal. He alleged that this is the same Kabir who had earlier said that there are 70% Muslims in Murshidabad and if he wants, he can throw Hindus into the Bhagirathi river. Majumdar warned that if the Hindus of Bengal do not wake up, then in the coming times, Babri Masjid will be built in place of every temple.
