Taking a jibe at Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s statement regarding the Public Safety and Security Act (PSA) in Jammu and Kashmir, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, what did he do if he regained consciousness after losing everything? What did you do if you lit a lamp during the day?
Re-posting a statement of Omar Abdullah, Asaduddin Owaisi wrote on X that Sheikh Abdullah had implemented the Public Safety Act, 1978 (PSA) in 1978 to deal with smuggling. Farooq Abdullah, G.M. Owaisi said that if he wanted, he could have easily removed the PSA and prevented countless sufferings and human rights violations.
What did Asaduddin Owaisi say?
Taking aim, the AIMIM MP said that this law has been misused by almost every elected Chief Minister and unelected Governor. Since 1978, more than 20,000 people have been imprisoned without criminal charges, fair trials or even a proper appeals process.

Asaduddin Owaisi further said that the detention of some people was extended to 7-12 years. A separatist was detained under PSA and later, when needed, he was granted bail by issuing a court warrant. Now there is a small elected government and it has now come up with the idea of removing PSA.
Omar Abdullah expressed his inability
Speaking to journalists on Saturday (October 18), Omar Abdullah said that we had said in the manifesto that we will remove the Public Safety and Security Act (PSA) from Jammu and Kashmir. To remove this we need statehood. Security, law and order, all these things should be under the control of the elected government. The day these things become ours, I will not even wait for the assembly session. We will remove the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) through an ordinance.
