IIT Bombay, one of the leading technical institutes of the country, is now preparing to create its new identity in the world. The institute has drawn up a roadmap to launch its first international campus by 2030, and the first step could be the establishment of an IIT Bombay Center in the US. This initiative will give a new direction to the global expansion of the institute, which has recently been approved by the Board of Governors. This entire plan has been presented under the name “Strategy Plan 2026-2030 & Beyond”, in which the target has been set to include IIT Bombay in the list of top technical universities of the world in the coming years.
Contribution of teachers, students, alumni and industry experts is included in preparing this strategy. The new scheme will work on three main bases. IIT Bombay is now moving towards such an education system in which students will get more practical experience, get a chance to work on projects and new methods of learning will be developed. In this direction, the institute is planning to start 2+2 undergraduate programs, joint research, student exchange, dual degree and other global programs with the top 50 universities of the world.
their use will increase
The institute believes that in the coming times, the use of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and new technologies will increase in every field. Therefore, IIT Bombay is going to make these subjects a part of every discipline, so that the students who come out from here are not only experts in their field, but also have complete knowledge of AI and new technology. Its objective is to prepare such technical professionals who can adapt to the changing world and are ready for future needs.
Another major part of the plan is to lead research in frontier areas. In this, a big research setup will be created in areas like AI and machine learning, climate technology, quantum technology, semiconductor, medtech, advanced materials, space and defense. For this, new interdisciplinary centers will be created and expert faculty will be recruited, so that IIT Bombay can become the country’s leader in these fields and also create a new identity at the international level.
The third part of the plan is to promote innovation related to industry and society. Its objective is to take the research done at IIT Bombay directly to the industry, strengthen the startup ecosystem and promote ideas that can bring direct change in the society. With this in mind, IIT Bombay has taken a big initiative on Tuesday and launched its Deep-Tech Venture Capital Fund.
