IIT delhi new btech curriculum after 12 years now lessry stress more skills industry focused learning

IIT Delhi, the country’s most prestigious engineering institute, has given a big relief to its students. After about 12 years, the institute has made a big change in its B.Tech course. This change will not only make the way of studies more interesting but will also reduce the burden of studies on students. Along with this, students will now be prepared according to the demand of modern technology and industry.

New course made of students’ feedback

IIT Delhi director Rangan Banerjee said that work on this new course structure started in 2022 itself. For this, suggestions were taken from students, alumni and faculty. He said that our aim is to give students a chance to learn much better and flexible. Now the course will be such that students can learn something new from themselves and do it.

Study pressure will be reduced in the first year

Under the new change, now the number of core credits has been reduced in two semesters of the first year, so that new students are not afraid of heavy syllabus. Apart from this, the first year class size has also been reduced from 300 to 150, so that every student can get personal attention.

New thinking of “learn and do yourself”

Now studies will not be limited to only books. IIT Delhi has adopted the method of learning ‘Learning by Doing’. Students will not only read theory, but will also work on the problems of real life.

Focus on both technology and environment

AI based code generators have also been included in the new course, so that students can understand future techniques. Along with this, all students will also be trained on sustainability (environmental balance), so that they can bring positive changes in society and industry.

Honors and M.Tech will get double benefit

Now students will also be able to perform honors programs with B.Tech. Apart from this, at the end of the third year, students may also join the M.Tech program of IIT Delhi directly and can get both Bachelors and Masters degrees in 5 years.

Inspiration from worldwide courses

Rangan Banerjee said that for this change, he has also studied the courses of global institutions like Stanford, MIT, Cambridge, so that IIT Delhi’s new course can become international level.
