IIT Guwahati released the exam schedule of GATE 2026, the exam will be held for four days in February.


Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has released the exam dates of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering i.e. GATE 2026. Now candidates can see the complete exam schedule by visiting the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

GATE 2026 examinations will be conducted over four days in February next year. This time also the examination has been divided into two shifts of forenoon and afternoon i.e. morning and afternoon. The examinations will be conducted between 7 February to 15 February 2026. The morning shift will be from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the afternoon shift will be from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. These examinations will be conducted in different cities across the country and the responsibility of the entire event will be with the IITs. GATE 2026 result will be released on 19 March 2026.

When will the exams be held?

On the first day i.e. on 7 February 2026, there will be examinations for Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, Geology and Geophysics, Instrumentation Engineering, Mathematics, Mining Engineering, Textile Engineering and Fiber Science, Engineering Sciences and Life Sciences in the morning shift. This will be an important day for those students who are preparing for PG admission or PSU jobs in these subjects.

In the afternoon shift, examinations of Aerospace Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Geomatics Engineering, Physics and Humanities and Social Sciences will be held. A large number of students participate in these subjects every year, so this day is going to be very busy.

On the second day i.e. on 8 February 2026, the examinations of Computer Science and Information Technology Paper 1 and Statistics will be conducted in the morning shift. Computer Science is the most popular subject of GATE every year, so this day will be very important for lakhs of students. In the afternoon shift, the second paper of Computer Science and IT, Ecology and Evolution, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and Production and Industrial Engineering will be held. Since there will be different papers in both the shifts on this day, candidates will have to plan in advance so that they can reach the examination center without any hassle.

On the third examination day i.e. 14th February 2026, the examinations of Civil Engineering Paper 1, Electrical Engineering and Production and Industrial Engineering will be held in the morning shift. Civil and Electrical are the two subjects in which the number of GATE candidates are highest in the country, hence this day will be very important in terms of the exam. In the afternoon shift, examinations of Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering Paper 2, Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering will be held. Mechanical is also a popular subject in which a large number of students take part.

Electronics and Communication Engineering examination will be held in the morning shift on the last day i.e. 15th February 2026. This paper also attracts the maximum number of candidates in the country. The entire examination schedule of GATE 2026 will conclude with the examinations of Architecture & Planning and Data Science & Artificial Intelligence in the afternoon shift. In the new era, the importance of AI and Data Science is increasing rapidly, hence a large number of candidates are going to appear in this paper also.
