IPL 2025, Delhi High Court, RCB: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have suffered a major setback from the Delhi High Court between IPL 2025. In fact, RCB had filed an application to ban an advertisement of Sunrisers Hyderabad cricketer Travis Head, which has been rejected by the court.
The Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed the RCB petition, requesting an interim restriction on Uber Moto’s alleged derogatory YouTube advertisement made on Sunrisers Hyderabad cricketer Travis Head.
Justice Saurabh Banerjee said that there is no need for any intervention in this advertisement. The court said, the said advertisement is in the context of the game of cricket, sportsmanship and in the opinion of the court, there is no need for any intervention of the court at this level while considering this application.
The court said that it would be unfair to intervene in this case by this court at this level, which is why RCB’s application is rejected. The court has pronounced this order on the interim application of RCB. However, detailed orders are yet to come.
Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited has filed a suit against Uber India Systems Private Limited that Uber Moto’s YouTube advertisement “Badies in Bangalore in which Travis Head appears” insults her trademark.
Earlier, describing the video advertisement, RCB’s lawyer said that the cricketer can be seen running towards the Bengaluru Cricket Stadium with the aim of defying the signage of “Bengaluru vs Hyderabad”, he takes a spray paint and writes the first ‘Royley Challenge “in Bangalore, which makes it’ Royley Challed Bangalore ‘ RCB insults the brand.
The lawyer argued that when a negative comment is made, there is an insult. He said that Sunrisers Hyderabad being the commercial sponsor of the IPL team, Uber Moto, while promoting its product of ride booking, is using RCB’s trademark during his business, also its ‘misleading form’, which is unacceptable under the law.
On behalf of Uber, the lawyer said that RCB has ‘underestimated’ the comic spirit of the general public. Uber’s lawyer said that good humor and jokes are an integral part of the advertising message and if such a standard proposed by RCB is implemented, these factors will be finished.
The advertisement has been viewed on the social media platform by 13 lakh times till then and many comments have also been made by the users.
