A new twist has come in Nepal’s politics. Amidst violent protests and political instability, the name of Kulman Ghizing is now leading for the post of interim Prime Minister of the country. Earlier, former Chief Justice Sushila Karki was considered a strong contender for this post, but due to lack of consent, now Kulman Ghising is getting the support of the public and especially generation-Z.
Why is Kulman wear in discussion?
Kulman has been the former head of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). His name came into the limelight when he ended Nepal’s long -standing power cut (load shedding) problem. While electricity used to go to Nepal for 8 to 18 hours daily, this problem under the leadership of Ghising went away in only a few months.
Where have you studied?
The educational background of Kulman worn is also very strong. He was born on 25 November 1970 in Bethan, Ramechap, Nepal. He completed his initial studies from his village and moved to Kathmandu for further education. He then graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Institute of Regional Technology in Jamshedpur, India and further earned a Masters degree from Pulchauk Engineering College, Nepal.

When and how were the heads of NEA?
On 14 September 2016, the Nepal government appointed Kulman Ghizing as the Managing Director of NEA for the first time. His first term was four years old and during this time he completely changed the picture of the power supply. Later he was again appointed to the same post on 11 August 2021. However, in March 2025, the government suddenly removed him from the post.
