Congress MP Shashi Tharoor wrote, “The greatest run chase we could hope for in a Cricket World Cup semi-final took place in a women’s match. Shocked and proud of the Women’s Blue today. What a wonderful win? We will all be looking forward to watching the final.” Indian women’s cricket team has created history by defeating Australia by 5 wickets in the semi-finals. The hero of Team India’s victory was Jemimah Rodrigues, who played an unbeaten inning of 127 runs. Australia won the toss and batted first and scored 338 runs with the help of Phoebe Litchfield’s century. India won the match with 9 balls remaining by scoring 341 runs at the loss of five wickets in 48.3 overs. This is the biggest chase in the history of women’s ODI cricket, hence India’s victory over Australia is historic.
