Ind vs Eng 5th Test: Why did Jaspreet Bumrah return to India? Is there just workload or anything else?

Ind vs eng 5th test: The ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England is at its decisive turn, but just before this important stage, Team India suffered a major setback. Star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was released from the team before the last Test. Now the question is arising whether it is just a matter of workload management or is something serious being hidden by the team management?

BCCI issued official information

Just before the fifth Test started at the Oval from 31 July, BCCI released a press release and informed Bumrah to get Bumrah out of the team. The board had described the reason for this, but now there are reports that the matter is not only of fatigue or scheme, but a knee injury.

What is the real reason

According to a report by the Times of India, Bumrah has suffered a knee injury. A BCCI official said, “There is nothing to worry about in this. Bumrah’s knee injury is minor and will not require surgery. The medical team is waiting for his scan report.”

Meanwhile, Bumrah has been sent to the Center of Excellence (COE) of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, where he will start a rehab program for his knee injury.

Why was sent before the last match?

Now the question is arising that if the injury was not so serious, then why was Jasprit Bumrah separated from the team before the last and most important Test of the series? Many experts believe that the team needed their experience in this decisive match. Even though he would not have been in the playing XI, his presence in the dressing room could prove to be beneficial for the young bowlers.

It is also worth noting here that England captain Ben Stokes is also not playing the last match due to injury, but still the team is present in the dressing room. Due to which questions are being raised about Bumrah’s return.

Bowlers come back strong in Oval Test

In the absence of Bumrah, India’s fast bowlers have performed tremendously. Mohammad Siraj, famous Krishna and Akash Deep have fought against England and brought back the team in the final session of the fourth day.

England had a target of 374 runs and on the fourth day, he has lost 6 wickets for 339 runs till the stumps. Now on the last day, England need 35 runs to win and India 4 wickets.

Now what next?

Now BCCI’s medical team will monitor Bumrah’s return. At the moment, the hope is that he will fully fit the field till the upcoming series, but in the meantime the question will remain that it was the right decision to send Bumrah back?
