At the same time, if the match starts but it rains in between, then this match can still be played the next day. That means the remaining overs will be completed on the reserve day. ICC tries to ensure that the result of the knockout match is decided on the field itself.
What if it rains on both days?
The most important question is what will happen if rain spoils the play on both the days? If the weather remains bad on both March 5 and 6 and not a single ball can be bowled, then the team performing better in the Super-8 stage will get a place in the finals.
England had won all three of its matches in the Super-8. On the other hand, India won two matches but lost one. In such a situation, if the match is completely canceled, then as per the rules England will get the ticket for the final.
