Former England spinner Graeme Swan believes that England will have to easily defeat India in the five -Test series starting from June 20 as the preparation of Ashes played in Australia later this year.
England finished the 2023–25 World Test Championship Chakra in fifth place, which won only 10 of their 22 matches, 11 and a draw.
The series against India will give his relatively inexperienced bowling attack an opportunity to achieve its rhythm. Meanwhile, India will also play without its two most experienced batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who retired from the longest format before the tour of England.
Graeme Swann said, “To be honest, it is the perfect warm -up for the Ashes. India is a big series and we have lost completely two or three times when we have gone to India, so we have lost completely. So in our own home, in our home, we have to defeat India. We have to play well.”
Graeme Swan further said, “They will not have Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma, who are two of his best experienced superstars, so without it, yes, they have the best players, but we have bowlers who take good advantage of our circumstances and can actually bowl well.
Swan told Sky Sports, “I think England should win this series, and I think they should win it easily. I will move forward according to four, three two, but I hope we do well and gain confidence before the Ashes.”
England have not won the Ashes since 3–2 win at home ground in 2015 and have not won a single Test match in Australia since 2011.
