IND vs Eng Test Series: The five -match Test series between India and England is going to start from June 20. This time this series has become special in many ways because now this series will be known as “Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy”. The trophy has been started in honor of two veteran players, Sachin Tendulkar, who is called the God of Cricket in India and England fast bowler James Anderson. Earlier this series was known as “Pataudi Trophy”.
This Test series to be held in England is part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27, which has made the importance of this series even more. Interestingly, this new trophy is being started shortly after James Anderson retired from international cricket, and he himself has made a big prediction about this series.
James Anderson said this about the series
Former England fast bowler James Anderson believes that this series is going to be very exciting where both teams are going to give a tough competition to each other. Anderson said that even though Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and R.K. Senior players like Ashwin will not be present due to retirement from their Test cricket, but they are confident that the young players of India will stand firmly in front of the England team.
During a conversation with ESPN Cricinfo, Anderson further said, “The Indian team may have seen big changes this time, but there is no shortage of confidence and talent among the players. The England team will get the benefit of domestic conditions, but defeating a team like India is still a difficult challenge.”
Anderson specially praised Indian fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah and described his reverse swing bowling as a big force for the Indian team. Anderson also appreciated the young players of India, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant.
England will adopt its aggressive ‘baseball’ strategy in front of Indian team
In this series to be held in England, Shubman Gill has been entrusted with the responsibility of the Indian team. KL Rahul and Yashaswi Jaiswal may go to bat as the opener of the team at a possible playing XI, while Sai Sudarshan or Abhimanyu Ishwar can get a chance at number three. Players like Karun Nair, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja will be present with captain Shubman Gill for batting in the middle order. The responsibility of bowling will be on the shoulders of Bumrah, Siraj and the famous Krishna.
At the same time, England team captain is Ben Stokes. The England team captained by Stokes is famous for playing Test cricket from their aggressive ‘Bazball’ approach. Anderson believes that this strategy of baseball can make this series more exciting.
The first Test match between India and England will be played in Leeds (Handingley). The subsequent will be played at Birmingham, Lords, Manchester and The Oval.
