The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is going to start from 7th February and once again there is tremendous excitement among the cricket fans about the India-Pakistan match. This tournament will be played jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, while the final match will be held on March 8. Out of these, India has won 6 times, whereas Pakistan has got success in only one match. One match was tied, but in that too India won through bowl-out.
The story started from 2007
India and Pakistan came face to face for the first time in the T20 World Cup 2007. This match played in Durban was tied and then India won in the bowl-out. After this, in the same year in the final played in Johannesburg, India won the first T20 World Cup by defeating Pakistan by 5 runs.
India’s dominance continues
In the 2012 T20 World Cup, India defeated Pakistan by 8 wickets in Colombo. India also registered easy victories in Dhaka in 2014 and Kolkata in 2016. In these matches, the performance of Indian batsmen and bowlers was overshadowing that of Pakistan.
Pakistan’s only victory
In the 2021 T20 World Cup, Pakistan created history by defeating India by 10 wickets in Dubai. This was the first time that Pakistan defeated India in the T20 World Cup. However, this victory could not give Pakistan the lead for long.
India’s great comeback
In a thrilling match played in Melbourne in 2022, India again defeated Pakistan by 4 wickets. Whereas in the 2024 New York match, India won by 6 runs in a close match.
What will change in history in 2026?
Now both the teams will face each other once again in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The statistics are definitely in India’s favor, but in the India-Pakistan match, the performance of that day matters more than the record. In such a situation, the match of 15th February can once again become a memorable chapter in the history of cricket.
