By the end of the second day’s play in the Kolkata Test, South Africa had scored 93 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. Africa still has a lead of only 63 runs in the second innings. Captain Temba Bavuma is standing at the crease like a strong wall, who is playing after scoring 29 runs. A total of 15 wickets fell on the second day, probably the result of this match will come on the third day i.e. tomorrow. Ravindra Jadeja is wreaking havoc with his spin in the second innings.
On the second day, the Indian team progressed its first innings at 37/1. KL Rahul was out after scoring 39 runs and Washington Sundar was out after scoring 29 runs. Rishabh Pant got the start, but he could not take his innings forward by 27 runs. Ravindra Jadeja also contributed 27 runs.
Shubman Gill retired out
In the first innings of the Indian team, captain Shubman Gill suffered a neck strain while playing a sweep shot. Gill retired after scoring 4 runs in just 3 balls. BCCI issued a statement saying that Gill is currently under the supervision of the medical team and the next decision will be taken only after considering his health. Akshar Patel scored 16 runs and Dhruv Jurel scored 14 runs.
Jadeja-Kuldeep tightened the screws
In the second innings, the spin of Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav devastated the South African batting line-up. A total of 7 wickets fell for South Africa in the second innings, all of which were taken by the Indian spin bowlers. So far Ravindra Jadeja has taken 4 wickets, Kuldeep Yadav 2 and Akshar Patel has also taken one wicket.
