Today is the second day of the first Test being played between India and South Africa at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. India’s first innings is going on. On the first day, South Africa chose to bat and the entire team was all out for 159 runs. Shubman Gill and team have taken the lead in the first innings.
A total of 25 overs were played in the first session of the second day, in which 101 runs were scored. Team India has lost 3 wickets in this session, while Shubman Gill retired hurt and went out of the field. In the 35th over, Washington Sundar was caught out on the ball of Simon Harmer, he scored 29 runs. After this, Shubman Gill retired and went out due to pain in his neck.
After this, KL Rahul was caught out in the 40th over, Keshav Maharaj made him his victim. Rahul scored 39 runs in 119 balls, in which he hit 1 six and 4 fours. Rishabh Pant, returning after injury, scored 27 runs in a fast-paced manner, in this innings played in 24 balls, he hit 2 sixes and as many fours. India’s score after the first session was 138/4.
Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to bat first. Ryan Rickelton and Aiden Markram had a good start, making a partnership of 57 runs for the first wicket. Jasprit Bumrah dismissed both the openers, after which South Africa’s innings could not recover. In the first session, South Africa had scored 105 runs by losing 3 wickets, in the second session the visiting team lost 5 wickets and scored only 49 runs, in the third over of the third session South Africa was all out for 159 runs.
Jasprit Bumrah took 5 wickets, Mohammad Siraj took 2 wickets in a single over. Kuldeep Yadav also got 2 wickets, Akshar Patel got 1 wicket.
India’s innings started in the third session, the first wicket in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal fell in the 7th over. Marco Janson bowled Jaiswal (12). India’s second wicket did not fall till the end of the first day’s play, KL Rahul was playing with 13 runs and Washington Sundar was playing with 6 runs. Team India was 122 runs behind. Today (15 November) is the second day of Kolkata Test.
