Gautam Gambhir’s poor coaching record in Tests continues. South Africa has defeated India by 30 runs in the first test. After 15 years, South Africa has won a test match on Indian soil. On this shocking defeat, Indian coach Gautam Gambhir has said that the target of 124 could have been easily chased.
Gautam Gambhir spoke on the crushing defeat
On India’s defeat in the Kolkata Test, Gautam Gambhir said, “We got a lot of support from the pitch curator here. I still believe that no matter how the pitch behaved, 123 runs could have been chased. If you are patient, try to defend well, you will definitely be able to score runs.”
Gambhir further said, “This is not a pitch where you can show great performance with the bat or play big shots, but if you show patience, you can score. We wanted such a pitch. I have said earlier also that there was a lot of support from the pitch curator. We wanted the same, but when you do not play well, such is the result.”
Gautam Gambhir’s coaching record (Test)
Ever since Gautam Gambhir became the head coach, Team India has played 18 matches, in which it has won only 7. Under Gambhir, the Indian team has lost 9 test matches and 2 of its matches were drawn.
