Jasprit Bumrah took 5 wickets for just 27 runs in 14 overs in the innings. This was the 16th five-wicket haul of Bumrah’s Test career. He dismissed Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickleton, Tony De Jorji, Simon Harmer and Keshav Maharaj. Apart from him, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammad Siraj took two wickets each in the innings. Akshar Patel also dismissed a batsman.
By the end of the first day’s play, KL Rahul scored 13 runs in 59 balls and Washington Sundar, who came to bat at third position, scored 6 runs in 38 balls. It was shocking that Sai Sudarshan, who played at number 3, was not given a chance in this match.
