By the end of the second day’s play, the Indian team had scored 9 runs without losing any wicket. In the second Test being played in Guwahati, South Africa’s first innings ended at 489 runs, currently the Indian team is behind by 480 runs in the first innings. The second day was entirely in the name of the South African team. The last 4 wickets added 243 runs for South Africa and took the team to a huge score of 489.
On the second day, South Africa increased its score to 247/6. Senuran Muthusamy and Kyle Verreyen together made 88 runs, after which Muthusamy made a partnership of 97 runs with Marco Jansen. On one hand, Muthusamy played an inning of 109 runs and Jansen played an inning of 93 runs. On the second day, Africa added 242 runs in its innings.
Jansen, in particular, was a heavy burden on the Indian bowlers. He played a big inning of 93 runs, but he played this innings at a strike rate of 102. In this innings he hit 6 fours and 7 sixes.
On the other hand, the Indian bowlers proved to be a complete failure on the second day. Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammad Siraj gave away more than 100 runs. The maximum wickets were taken by Kuldeep Yadav, who dismissed 4 South African batsmen and sent them to the pavilion. Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Siraj took two wickets each.
India still 480 runs behind
KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal came to open for the Indian team. By surviving 6.1 overs, he saved the Indian team from being on the backfoot. Jaiswal has scored 7 runs, while KL Rahul has scored 2 runs. Team India is still behind by 480 runs in the first innings.
