Batting first in the first T20 match, India has scored 175 runs. Hardik Pandya played a stormy innings of 59 runs for Team India. Shubhman Gill, captain Suryakumar Yadav and Abhishek Sharma also failed to play big innings. On the other hand, Lungi Ngidi wreaked havoc for South Africa and dismissed 3 batsmen of Team India.
Abhishek Sharma, who usually gives a bright start to Team India, was out after scoring 17 runs. Shubman Gill, who returned after missing the ODI series, flopped badly, scoring only 4 runs. Captain Suryakumar Yadav’s flop show continues. As soon as he came, he won the hearts of the audience with a four and a six, but he too could score only 12 runs.
Within no time, Team India had lost the wickets of all three top order batsmen for 48 runs. Tilak Verma and Akshar Patel scored 23 and 26 runs respectively, but due to their slow innings India’s run rate came down very low.
Hardik Pandya took over the T20 World Champion
When Hardik Pandya came to bat, India had scored 78 runs and lost four wickets in 11.4 overs. The run rate was just above 6, so it seemed difficult for the team to even reach 150 runs. Shivam Dubey remained at the crease for some time, but after scoring 11 runs, he also left.
Amidst all this, Hardik Pandya worked to save the honor of the current T20 World Champion India. He returned unbeaten after scoring 59 runs in 28 balls. In his stormy innings he hit 6 fours and four sixes. At one time India was able to score 80 runs in 12 overs, but on the strength of Hardik’s half-century, Team India added 95 runs in the last 8 overs.
On the other hand, Lungi Ngidi took 3 wickets for South Africa. Lutho Sipamala took 2 wickets and Donovan Ferreira took one wicket.
