By the end of the third day’s play in the Delhi Test, West Indies had scored 173 runs at the loss of 2 wickets. After bundling out West Indies for 248 runs in the first innings, the Indian team forced them to follow on. In the second innings, West Indies team still has to score 97 runs to avoid defeat. Till stumps on the third day, John Campbell is playing with 87 runs and Shay Hope is playing with 66 runs. Their partnership has reached 138 runs.
West Indies had increased their score to 140/4 on the third day. No batsman could play a big innings, as a result West Indies lost the remaining 6 wickets in scoring 108 runs. The Caribbean team scored 248 runs in the first innings, but this score proved insufficient to save the follow-on. West Indies was behind by 270 runs in the first innings. Kuldeep Yadav took 5 wickets for India in the first innings.
West Indies’ tremendous comeback
West Indies lost 2 wickets at the score of just 35 in the second innings. Team India was beginning to have hopes of victory, but the Indian bowlers lost their sweat due to the amazing combination of John Campbell and Shay Hope. Campbell is close to his century and is playing on 87 runs. On the other hand, Shay Hope has scored 66 runs. Their 138-run partnership has brought West Indies back into the match, although they still need 97 runs to avoid defeat.
Washington Sundar and Mohammad Siraj have taken one wicket each for India in the second innings. If Team India stops West Indies from scoring the remaining 97 runs on the fourth day, then it will get an innings victory.
